Who we are

Creative Purpose is a writer-first film development venture that operates like a writers’ room for movies.

Instead of developing one script at a time, we build a slate by assembling small, highly curated writing teams and partnering directly with established producers to develop multiple projects in parallel. The approach is inspired by Y Combinator’s (Airbnb, Doordash, Coinbase, Instacart, etc.) portfolio model, knowing that only a few screenplays need to break through for the model to work.

Across our slate, we’re working with Emmy winners, Nicholl Fellows, Black List writers, and writers with credits at Netflix, Pixar, HBO, Disney, and Apple TV+. On the producer side, we’re developing projects with producers whose films have collectively generated more than $4 billion at the global box office, including The Big Short, Dreamgirls, Up in the Air, Blade Runner 2049, Flight, Over Your Dead Body, and the Resident Evil, The Ring, and Death Race franchises. Throughout their careers, these producers have worked on films that have received more than 30 Academy Award nominations and 5 Academy Awards.
